Don’t leave a friend behind

No holiday is worth dying for

After her friend and colleague died after falling from a height, Magaluf bar worker, Gio Hague decided not enough was being done to save young people’s lives.

Her poster campaign, Don’t Leave A Friend Behind was launched in 2018, to warn young people to stay safe on holiday.

Gio worked with the Foreign Office, ITV and with of course, with the Safer Tourism Foundation, to deliver a straight-talking message about things she has seen and how tourists need to be more aware to avoid death, injury and illness.

We were privileged to work with Gio on a number of videos and congratulate her for her years of campaigning.

Here, in her own words, Gio describes the events leading to the creation of the Don’t Leave a Friend Behind campaign.
